Through your precepts I gain understanding; therefore, I hate every false way. Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:104-105)
As we come to the end of The Way Forward series, we are reminded that victory is God’s alone. Each of us is here for this time in history, planted in a specific place, possessing unique talents to use for God’s glory. It’s not by accident that we have a fire inside us that calls us to defend and uphold the sanctity of life, because this is the civil rights movement of our time. It’s the Church’s battle, and it’s a Gospel issue. If it’s not wrong to kill innocent, defenseless little boys and girls made in the image of God, then nothing is wrong. And if nothing is wrong, then there’s no need for a Savior.
Make no mistake. This is spiritual warfare. This is a battle between light and dark, good and evil, and it’s been going on since the Beginning. To plant our battle flag firmly under the blessings of God, we must return the Christian pro-life movement to its biblical foundation. We must question the strategies and philosophies the movement has embraced over the last 5 decades, and we must abandon those that do not align with the will and ways of God.
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world, rather than on Christ. (Colossians 2:8)
And we’re running out of time.
First, do no harm
To march hastily into a battle of such significance and duration is folly, just as it is folly to be unaware of its depth and breadth. In other words, to partner with God however He calls us into pro-life work, we must first take the time to know who the Enemy is and exactly what he’s done.
-
We can’t fight the Enemy we don’t know—To understand how the killing of pre-born children became “reproductive justice” in America, we need to know what the lies are, where they come from, and how to recognize them every day, everywhere.
-
We can’t fight the Enemy without context—Government, science, education, media and entertainment, civil rights movements, and the Church are all avenues through which the Enemy has worked to bring destruction. When we see the bigger picture, we can reject the outrage culture and calmly stay focused and one step ahead.
-
We can’t fight the Enemy if we’re aligned with him—When we sacrifice human lives in our quest to end legal abortion, and when we abandon mercy in responding to the call for justice, we only prolong the injustice. It’s time to return to the biblical principles that lie at the foundation of the pro-life movement.
-
We can’t fight the Enemy alone—Isolation and division are the devil’s go-to strategies. When believers come together in unity for the cause of life, with our feet set firmly on scriptural truth, we become invisible to the Enemy. Knowledge of the ways of God, gained only through a close relationship with Jesus, is the path to victory.
To equip the Church for this battle, Educe® online learning has created Foundations—a pro-life curriculum that travels decade-by-decade through the post-Christian transformation of America and places abortion, and all other battles for life, in this larger spiritual context.
We all have a choice to make, individually and as the Body of Christ: We can focus on the growing darkness, or we can usher in the growing light. It’s time for us to choose life.
The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. (John 10:10)
